Value from Click-Streams Turning worthless click-stream data into valuable information
It’s been said that collecting useful information from click-stream data is like drinking from a fire hose. It’s easier said than done. One of the many strengths of Webgroove® Relate is its ability to analyze click-stream data. Converting worthless data into valuable information used for defining a viewers interests is a complicated task. It is also a critical task for accurate behavioral profiling. The following is a brief description of our data conversion process and how it effects an individual profile.
User profiles are created by analyzing both user actions and click-stream data. The WebGroove® Relate behavior analyzer brings the whole system to life by examining the actions of each user. To compile useful behavioral information, both the action and the content in question are considered. Actions such as clicking on a banner are assigned a numeric weight representing their importance. This weight is used for measuring the significance of a particular piece of content.
Click-stream data is only as good as information collected. All relevant content must be accurately segmented and rated. Both the content itself as well as its placement within the organizational hierarchy of a web site is evaluated. Combining an accurately rated content segment with its corresponding viewer action creates a valuable component to a viewers profile.
